Nuevo acceso a Fuenlabrada en la M-506 (Madrid)

Project Description

The M-506 road is a peri-urban highway with dual carriageway. At P.K. 12+300 it has a junction with the M-407, and the next junction is at P.K. 14+300. Along these 2 km, the M-506 divides the urban core of Fuenlabrada in two, leaving the majority of the urban area to the East and the new residential neighborhoods, the Hospital, and the University Campus to the West. The intense traffic between these two areas of Fuenlabrada necessarily has to concentrate on the two junctions of the M-506. In addition, at P.K. 13+300 on the East side is the fire station, without direct access to the M-506 or to the entire sector to the West of it.

The project involves the construction of a new junction next to the fire station, at P.K. 13+300 of the M-506. The junction will be an elevated roundabout with two mixed structure curved decks and a single span of 40 m. In addition, collector roads of 2 km in length are planned on both sides of the M-506, to facilitate all entry and exit movements of the three M-506 junctions and adjacent streets without disrupting the traffic passing through the road's main lanes. It also includes a direct access ramp to the Hospital, as well as a direct connection from the fire station to the roundabout of the new junction.

Finally, the project includes cleaning and structural conditioning of the existing pedestrian bridge over the M-506 at P.K. 12+650.
